We have two hands on sewing seminars with Kerrin Brooks. Kerrin Brooks is a Freelance Educator for Husqvarna Viking Canada. She travels across Canada teaching at Husqvarna Viking Stores. She also hosts Sewing Retreats on the Sunshine Coast of BC Canada at Sechelt. Kerrin has had a love affair with sewing since childhood when she first watched her grandmother make quilts. She was sewing her own clothing before taking sewing classes in school, then came quilting and heirloom sewing. As the embroidery machines came on the market, machine embroidery was added along with software programs. She started teaching embroidery clubs in 1994, and continues to teach across the country. Her contemporary heirloom designs are unique, classic and fun!
These seminars will be given at the store next to Dragon Fly Fabrics at Bank and Alta Vista. Set up time is 9:30 am, with a 10:00 am start. The seminars will finish about 5:00 pm. There will be a one hour break for lunch. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. To register please call our Bank Street store at (613) 237-8008.

Both borders and the flower section are also pieced, embroidered, and stippled in the hoop. Mini piping is applied during the assembly to give it the finishing detail.
You will require a Husqvarna Viking embroidery machine with a minimum size hoop of 240 by 150, preferably a hoop size of 200 by 360.
The cost is $85.00 including the kit of material.

You will learn to use a multitude of feet including the Button Foot with Placement tool, Clear View S Foot, Clear Braiding Foot, Narrow Braid/cord Foot, 7 hole Cord foot with threader, Clear 1/4" Foot, 5mm Narrow Hem Foot, Clear Piping Foot, Candlewick Foot, Join & Fold Edging Foot, Buttonhole foot, Open Toe Foot and Twin Gimping Foot. You will require a Husqvarna Viking electronic sewing machine.
The cost is $75.00 including the kit of material.
This seminar is given by Debby Gemmel, one of the founding sisters of Cabin Fever. Thier knitting philosophy is simple. When you have finished knitting and have worked that final cast off, you are finished. No seams to sew, or wrestle in sleeves that don't seem to fit the armhole.
This is a full day seminar, given at our Bank Street store, on Saturday, August 11th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with an hour break for lunch. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. To register please call our Bank Street store at (613) 237-8008.
The seminar is based on the "Need A Baby Cardigan?" booklet by Cabin Fever. You will make a Teddy-Bear sized Top Down cardigan to learn the techniques needed for a top down. This simple garment will be your blank canvas. Let's have some fun. Add a stitch pattern into the body of the sweater or play with the collar, cuffs and bottom border of the sweater. Make this sweater your own creation. There will be lots of help as you take your first step away from the basic pattern.
You will need to bring, or you can purchase at the store (in which case, please arrive early!): Need a Baby Cardigan booklet, DK weight yarn, 2 circular needles in the size recommended by your yarn (2 lengths - 40cm/16" long and 60cm/24" long) , a set of double-pointed needles, ring markers, and a sewing up needle.
The cost is $55.00 including lunch.
